At least 10 billion people. If Mars was inhabitable, of course, which it is not and never will, no matter how wishful thinking you or all terraforming enthusiasts and tech gurus are.

A good comparison base? Mars’ surface has 144 million square meters. That’s pretty much the same size of all land area of Earth (149 million square meters). But then Mars would need oceans or big lakes like Earth to be inhabitable, right? There’s room for that. If we consider that humans only live in 1/5 of Earth’s land area (the rest are mostly deserts and forests), we come to the conclusion that we are already living in a space the size of Mars here on Earth.
