Transitioning Out of Full-Time Ministry

John and Noel Piper share their experiences of leaving the ministry as a couple, a process that was the result of years of prayer and discernment. Noel felt it was time to step down due to decreased energy for long-term management, while John continued to anticipate the future with excitement, looking forward to new priorities in writing, teaching, and speaking.

The couple acknowledges the ongoing grieving process and the importance of remaining united as a church community, as well as their desire to be blessings to their children. They reflect on the fears and promises of aging and the importance of remaining intentional during the next phase of their lives while reminding themselves that the church belongs to God and that their time there is not an end but a continuation of His work.

Additionally, they discuss the challenges and emotions that come with a life change, including the reactions from their community and the hope for a celebratory end.
