What Alan Turing means to us

The Alan Turing Institute is named in honour of Alan Turing, the pioneering mathematician, computer scientist, philosopher, code-breaker and icon of the 20th Century.

Despite his pivotal role in ensuring the safety of the nation, Turing’s homosexuality resulted in him being prosecuted and harassed by police surveillance up until his untimely death at only 41 years old.

To mark this occasion, we asked members of the Institute’s community what Alan Turing means to them.
