A knife-armed man trying to board a METRO bus in southeast Houston died after METRO police shot him, officials said. The incident happened around 10 a.m. in the 8200 block of Park Place Boulevard. A METRO bus driver observed the suspect at a bus stop with a knife and did not allow him to board. A METRO supervisor and METRO police officers responded, and the suspect charged at the officers, who fired weapons. The man was shot in the leg, received medical aid on scene, and was taken to a hospital, where he died at 11and15 a.m., authorities said. METRO said no customers or employees were injured during the incident. Officials did not confirm how many officers opened fire, nor the number of rounds discharged. Witness Daniel Samsin said two cops fired at least five rounds apiece. The Houston Police Department is leading the investigation, which remains ongoing for now.
