Schola Cantorum Sings to Father Angelus

On Thursday evening, March 1, 2018, the eve of Fr. Angelus Shaughnessy’s entry into eternal life, the Schola Cantorum of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Parish (Pittsburgh’s Latin Mass Community) offered their parting gift…a concert for the journey. Mr. John Rokosz, choral director, brought members of the Schola Cantorum to Father’s room # 243 at the Vincentian Home in the North Hills of Pittsburgh PA to sing a medley of traditional Latin hymns. Though Father was weak and fragile, he seemed alert to the comforting sound of their voices. The angelic choir brought him peace during his last hours. They ended the concert with “Holy God, We Praise Thy Name” and Father appeared to mouth those familiar words along with the choir.

These precious moments were recorded by Mr. Tom Nypaver, a parishioner and long-time friend of Fr. Angelus.
