Chilean Pudu doe chewing cud

A Chilean (or Southern) pudú (_Pudu puda_) chewing cud. This is the second smallest extant deer species known to science, a native of the Southern Andes of Chile and Argentina. Cud chewing an practiced by all ruminants and aids the breakdown of their high-starch diet. Food is swallowed and then regurgitated for further chewing before being re-swallowed.
