DIY Signal Hunter: The RF Hunter
Find Hidden Cameras in Your Airbnb with the DIY RFHunter!
Meet the RFHunter, a DIY open-source RF Signal Scanner specifically designed to detect and measure RF signals in your environment to help you find hidden cameras, wiretapping devices, and other RF-enabled gadgets.
Created by maker and hacker Matthew Rogers, the latest RFHunter V4.0 is the ultimate travel companion. The 3D-printed case snaps together with zero tools required. Plus, it utilizes a single 3.7V lithium-ion battery with a TP4056 charge controller and a boost converter, allowing it to run for weeks or months depending on your usage.
How it Works: Built around an ESP32 development board and an AD8317 RF Power Detector, the device scans the room for signals. It features an OLED screen to display the current RF signal strength and a potentiometer dial to easily adjust the sensitivity. When a strong RF signal is detected, the built-in piezo buzzer will sound an alarm to alert you.
Key Components to Build Your Own:
- ESP32 Development Board
- AD8317 RF Power Detector
- TP4056 Lithium Battery Charge Controller & 3.7V Battery
- Boost Converter (3.3V to 9V)
- OLED Display (I2C, 128x64)
- Potentiometer (10k) & Piezo Buzzer
