India's GCC Growth Stalled by Leadership Shortage | VARINDIA News Hour
Welcome to VARINDIA News Hour
India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are witnessing rapid expansion, employing nearly two million professionals and driving innovation across industries. However, EY’s GCC Pulse Report 2025 highlights a critical challenge slowing this momentum a shortage of leadership talent.
Despite strong annual growth in global leadership roles, nearly 80% of GCCs still have less than 10% of leadership positions based in India. As enterprises continue expanding operations, the demand for experienced mid-to-senior professionals with technical expertise, business understanding, and strategic decision-making skills is increasing significantly.
By 2025, mid-to-senior talent is expected to account for 77% of GCC hiring, reflecting the growing need for leadership depth across complex enterprise environments.
The report suggests that while India remains a global technology and operations hub, the next phase of growth will depend on building stronger leadership pipelines. Organizations are increasingly focusing on personalized learning programs, leadership development initiatives, and structured career pathways to prepare Indian professionals for global leadership responsibilities.
As GCCs evolve into innovation and transformation centers, strengthening leadership capabilities will become essential for sustaining long-term growth and positioning India as a global leadership talent hub.
Key Focus:
• India’s GCC sector facing leadership talent shortages
• Nearly 80% of GCCs have limited leadership presence in India
• Demand for mid-to-senior talent rising rapidly
• Enterprises focusing on leadership development and upskilling
• Stronger leadership pipelines critical for future GCC growth
Today’s Headlines:
• Handwritten NEET ‘guess paper’ goes viral on WhatsApp
• Google and SpaceX discuss launching orbital data centers
• EU targets TikTok and Instagram over addictive design for children
• Biometric fraud detected in Aadhaar authentication in Haryana
• Amazon employees reportedly “tokenmaxxing” AI usage internally
