Bucovina ~Both Male & Female Golden Eagles Flying Overhead! Chick Swallows A Pine Marten Paw 6.11.21

This was exciting to finally see Dad flying overhead with Mom right before she made a food delivery! The chick sees its parents in the distance and is vocalizing and then we see two quick flybys going right to left. Then the chick is watching intently and we see Dad flying right to left and a couple seconds later Mom lands on the nest with a pine marten! Wow! Great to see the male even though we know he has been close by.

Mom starts to serve lunch right away and it is a big meal with lots of tasty morsels! The feeding is a long one even with some editing...the chick gets to eat iron rich organ meat, stringy intestines at 12:46, Mom eats some of the bones and then the prized pine marten paw gets offered to the chick at 23:18. The chick tries to eat it but it is too big so Mom tries to swallow it! She spits it out and then pulls off some meat to make it more edible and offers it again at 25:30 and the chick swallows it whole! Pretty amazing what this eaglet can now eat at just over 5 weeks old. There is a lot of meat on the prey so there should be plenty for tomorrow. Thank you for watching!

This nest is located in a remote area of Bucovina Romania where a pair of Golden Eagles have been nesting and raising their young. The Wild Bucovina Association is a non government and non profit organization that has set up a new webcam recently to observe a rare pair of golden eagles raise their chick. This pair has been observed locally for the past 6 years. Setting up the cam has spooked the male and he has not been back to the nest for the past several days.The female is hunting and taking care of their chick.The male has been seen and photographed flying with the female close to the nest. Due to the sensitive nature of nest disturbance & the consequences involved, caution is advised while viewing this wild golden eagle nest.
