Made by Steve Russell on a PDP-1 minicomputer at MIT, Spacewar! is one of the first video games, in fact the first fully interactive video game. It was designed to show off the power of the PDP-1, entertain fellow students, and get the chicks! (2 out of 3 ain't bad)
