Chindian (Documentary Short Film)

Our team embarked on this documentary short film project to explore the issues and experiences that persons of Chinese-Indian bicultural marriages, colloquially known as Chindians, face.

This started because our personal friend, a Chindian, faced online bullying and abuse only because of his race and skin colour. Hence, we were stirred to examine this a little more deeply.

If the statistical references seem a little outdated, that’s because we ran into some delays during production. However, we hope they still aid the observations made in the documentary.

We hope this documentary film will initiate conversations about how Singapore society relates to Chindians and people of mixed ethnicities. This film is not meant to be definitive or exhaustive on the topic. It was the best we could do given the constraints we had. We hope it will be just another step forward for others to take the dialogue further.
