ICEBERG! - Anita Ekberg
Iceberg keeps on dreaming. Highly expressive art video of world famous actress and model Anita Ekberg, focussed on the opening decade of her long and diverse career.
Using spirited and artistic methods in portraying the various aspects of her work spanning from 1951 in Sweden, throughout the 50's in the United States of America and Great Britain, and ultimately to Rome in 1960, where she starred in Federico Fellini's 'La Dolce Vita' and what became one of the most famous and celebrated scenes in motion picture history.
ICEBERG! is expressive in documentary and biography, and sensitive in tribute to many of the things that characterised Anita Ekberg on her journey from Miss Sweden to La Dolce Vita. The movies and the acting of an actress. The photography, hair, makeup, dresses and fashion: all things concerned with a model. And the ambition, drive and dedication of a person determined to become a star.
The title "ICEBERG!" comes from the name she acquired from elements of the press and various film industry professionals of the time, with whom she was known to have occasional difficulties. It was a name she later declared a fondness for. The opening slogan is a quote from a film producer when asked in 1956 why, in his opinion, Anita Ekberg wasn't enjoying more professional demand and success in Hollywood at that time.
Films of Anita Ekberg shown:
- Hollywood or Bust (1956)
- Interpol aka Pickup Alley (1957)
- Valerie (1957)
- Paris Holiday (1958)
- Screaming Mimi (1958)
- The Man Inside (1958)
- Nel Segno Di Roma aka Sheba and The Gladiator, Sign of The Gladiator, The Sign of Rome (1959)
- La Dolce Vita (1960)
Also features a 1959 Anita Ekberg interview anticipating the upcoming production of La Dolce Vita directed by Federico Fellini, 1958 'What's My Line?' episode featuring Anita Ekberg as mystery guest, La Dolce Vita dance scene from the 1961 Italian film 'Divorzio All 'Italiana' and some very rarely seen promotional footage of Anita Ekberg during the filming of the famous Trevi fountain scene.
