Effects of Rock Avalanches on Glaciers conversation about paper. Mt. Cook Southern Alps, New Zealand

This video is discussion in simple language of the published paper on Effects of Rock Avalanches on Glaciers, Reznichenko et al., 2011, Geomorphology. I explain why we need to study catastrophic rock avalanches on glaciers, how they change glacier mass balance if any, and why it is important to know when we want to reconstruct climate in the past and model climate change in the future. In Video we look at beautiful pictures from the field sites in Southern Alps of New Zealand, other glaciers, and I show you study glaciers and locations on Google Earth.

This video is educational, I speak with no notes and deliberately use simple language. My aim is here to make Science available for everyone.
