'Euphoria' the award-winning new Australian play

'Euphoria' by Emily Steel.
A Country Town. A Festival. A local tragedy and
a town that doesn’t talk. This tale of good days,
bad days and everything in between catapults
us right into the heart of a town where
everyone knows everyone, and where Ethan is hit
by his past as Meg struggles with the present. A
heart-warming story from award-winning South
Australian playwright Emily Steel, playing a limited season at The Pavilion Performing Arts Centre Sutherland in May 2023.
'Euphoria' was developed through a socially
engaged arts practice over two years in
consultation with communities across regional
South Australia. Playwright Emily Steel spent time
in eight regional towns connecting with people
through workshops, pop-up shops, community
meetings, supper events and school visits. She also spent time in the acute mental health
units in Whyalla, Berri and Mount Gambier,
meeting with clients, clinicians and peer support
staff, gaining a deeper understanding of mental
health in rural and remote areas.
