A Story of Indexes and Full Table Scans: Finding All the Red Sweets Part 1
"Why isn't Oracle using my index?!" is a common question people have when tuning SQL queries.
In this episode Chris compares two methods for finding all the red candies from party bags he's prepared. He shows how these are like a full table scan and an index range scan.
He goes on to compare the performance of these two approaches. He shows when a full table scan becomes more efficient than an index range scan and vice versa.
