KATSUCON 2020 !! [THURSDAY & FRIDAY]

Whew.

When I was at Katsucon, I had no clue that this would've been my last con for the year. And I especially didn't think that we'd all be dealing with a global pandemic not even a month later.

Regardless, it was nice to look back at all of these memories when everything was normal. Sadly enough, I don't think there's gonna be a Katsucon 2021. Here's hoping we can all return to conventions soon! I'm really missing cons a lot. :')

Today, October 13, is my dad's birthday. He passed away recently on September 2nd and this would've been his 53rd birthday. My dad was like my best friend -- we did everything together. I wanted to dedicate these Katsucon vlogs to him since he loved taking me and my friends to cons, and Katsucon 2020 was the last con he took us to before his passing. In fact, you can even see him in the beginning of this video.

My dad was the best dad that anyone could ever ask for. He was even considered a dad to all of my close friends. Every time he'd come to cons with us, he'd always stop us before we left for the convention center to take pictures of us. He was so proud and enamored by our makeup, wigs, and costumes as a whole.

Although I'm excited for conventions to open up again, I'm almost afraid. I already know how strange it's going to be without him there. When we all walk into the hotel lobby, he's not gonna be there to take pictures of us anymore. He's not gonna be there to walk us to the convention center to make sure we're all safe. He's not gonna be there to go out to eat with us when we're all starving. I'm not gonna be getting "you good?" texts from him throughout the day at the con.

It's going to be strange not just for me, but for all of my friends. He was a huge part of all of our convention weekends even though he didn't come inside the actual convention center with us.

I just know that he's going to be looking down on us with a smile, taking a picture of all of our costumes and feeling proud.

I'm gonna miss you, dad. This one's for you.
