Vitamin D deficiency? Food, norm, hypovitaminosis and excess of calciferol

Vitamin D is a water-soluble vitamin with hormonal activity.
There are different forms of this vitamin: plant ergosterol (ergocalciferol, D2, D2) and animal cholecalciferol (D3, D3).
It is produced mainly under the influence of sunlight (UV rays).
The importance of calciferol is that it participates in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the ileum.
In such hot months of the year as May, June, July and August, you can get up to 10 IU of vitamin D3 per square centimeter of skin.
In people with light skin, the production of vitamin D3 is higher compared to those with dark skin.
In diseases of the pancreas, liver, intestines and biliary tract, the absorption of vitamin D is impaired.
The recommended daily intake of vitamin D is 400 IU, for children about 800 IU, and for the elderly more than 400 IU/day.
Hypovitaminosis of calciferol in children is characterized by rickets (abnormal growth and brittleness of bones), and in adults - osteomalacia (osteoporosis and fractures).
Every year, after 30 years, about 1-2% of calcium is lost from the body, so osteoporosis can occur in 10-20 years.
Excess dietary fiber and gum in the diet can impair the absorption of vitamin D.
With a decrease in calcium levels in the blood, the following symptoms may be observed: a feeling of weakness, muscle spasms, impaired muscle contractions of the heart and muscle excitability.
Symptoms of vitamin D deficiency in the body may include: increased susceptibility to infections, neuromotor hypersensitivity, anxiety, muscle spasms, deformed legs in the form of X or brackets, weakened tooth enamel, deformation of the spine, decreased height and weight, fractures of the femur and pelvis.
Most often, vitamin D deficiency affects: vegetarians, people working in rooms with artificial lighting and not exposed to sunlight, people with kidney, liver, thyroid diseases, people who abuse alcohol, pregnant and lactating women, people taking the following medications: antiepileptic drugs, laxatives, alkalizing drugs, for the treatment of AIDS, people who have reached the age of 60.
With hypervitaminosis of vitamin D, the following signs may be observed: insatiable thirst, diarrhea, general discomfort, skin and eye pruritus (itching).
The best sources of calciferol are: milk, eggs, yogurt, fish, butter, mushrooms, fish oil.
