धुळे जिल्ह्यातील लामकानी गावाला दुष्काळातही कधीच आपली जनावरं चारा छावणीत नेण्याची वेळ आली नाही. लामकानी करांनी गवताला संरक्षण दिलं आणि एका अख्ख्या डोंगरातच पौष्टीक गवताची लागवड केली. मुक्त चराईपासून, वणव्यांपासून लामकानीकरांनी या आपल्या गोवर्धनाची काळजी घेतल्याने दुष्काळातही गावातल्या जनावरांना मुबलक चारा उपलब्ध होतो. गवताच्या संवर्धनापासून सुरू झालेला त्यांचा प्रवास दूध व्यवसाय मार्गाने आर्थिक सुबत्तेकडे कसा गेला हे पाहण्यासाठी हा व्हिडीओ बघायलाच हवा.

This video documents the inspiring story of Lamkani village and is a case study in how increasing nutritious and palatable grasses can lead to better business, cattle health, soil fertility and more. Twenty years ago, Lamkani village in Maharashtra's Dhule district was struck by a terrible drought. It was dependent on tankers and farmers had to sell or give away beloved cattle. Inspired by the success story of model village Hiware Bazar, the village decided to work on watershed development and increasing nutritious grasses. It implemented regulations on open grazing and worked intensely on growing nutritious and palatable grasses for cattle. As the grass cover increased, it helped with increased percolation and retention of rainwater. Well water levels increased. As the cattle and sheep got better quality grasses to feed on, the milk production in the village boomed. Even landless labourers were able to have their own cattle. The village became an example of how social unity can create a natural asset that can defeat the harshest of droughts.
