"I've been reeling pretty hard since waking up yesterday to the news about the tragic events in Las Vegas. While several friends and acquaintances escaped largely unharmed, we learned throughout the day of so many that were not as fortunate. That news was then compounded with the loss of a central musical influence in my life.

One of his most famous songs #IWontBackDown seemed like a fitting tribute to the man and a steadfast reminder that even though fear and pain and hate and confusion and death are all part of this crazy ride we're on, we can never back down and let those things overcome us. We must endure - do what we love, love who we love, and stand resolutely with one another to make it through these sometimes painful times.

Thank you to my family, my friends and band mates in #RivalWaves who have helped me through this - and especially to Mr. #TomPetty - thank you for creating sonic testaments that will always remain as relevant as the day you penned them. Hope you're up there jamming with my dad. I know he'd dig that. Be sound, y'all."
