Behind the Scenes in my Watercolour Class

I've recently started teaching 2 hour livestream watercolour workshops for beginner and intermediate painters. In this short video, I'm sharing a brief snapshot of some of the content covered in my beginner workshop last month. I opened the course with an explanation of the basic colours every artist should consider having in their palette, leaving it open enough so that you can make your own choices using what's available in your area, and then I walked my class through the stages of developing a representational painting, starting with the foundation stage of shape development and object placement, and then continuing through creating form through value, adding detail and tidying up a painting to make it look more professional. We ended up going about 30 minutes overtime, as students took the extra time to ask questions and show their work, and the entire lesson was recorded so students can re-watch the class and follow along at their own pace.

Learning this approach to developing a painting simplifies the process so much that almost any subject can be painted in this way, by even a beginning painter. It's exciting to see students connect the "how" and the "why" so that they can be independent and growing in their art, even after the workshop!

I'll be teaching a new workshop every month, one for beginners, and one for intermediate painters. Check out the current course line up here: https://learn.angelafehr.com/p/zoom-workshops
