At first glance, the objects appear to be moving in a circular motion, but we utilize visual helpers to prove that the circles are actually moving in a perfectly straight line. The circular effect is entirely dictated by the precise mathematical timing of each object reaching the edge of the screen.

Beyond the code, we look closely at the behavioral study aspects of this web simulation. Human perception is heavily influenced by the order of testing. We discuss the top-down versus bottom-up problem: if a user starts with multiple circles and reduces the count, their threshold for perceiving circular versus linear motion changes dramatically compared to starting with a single circle and increasing the count.
