Steve Wariner celebrates Waylon Jennings
In a time most country music was created in an assembly-line atmosphere controlled by Nashville producers, Waylon Jennings, who would've been 79 today, fought for artistic freedom by demanding the right to record songs he wanted with musicians of his choosing (including his road band). That stance became the essence of country's "Outlaw" movement, and winning those battles took him from moderate success to stardom. "Only Daddy That'll Walk The Line" is one of many Jennings tunes with particular appeal amongst musicians, as evidenced by this clip from Steve Wariner, who shares a bit of his personal history with Jennings, then riffs on the song using his Tele through an MXR Phase 90 and a Todd Sharp Joat amp.
