The Secret Life of Data Centre Hardware

It’s Monday, and the week has started exactly how we like it — busy.

Last week we helped two cloud providers remove redundant data-centre equipment, including servers, switches and routers. Now the real work begins: testing, refurbishing and securely wiping everything so it can be redeployed and deliver value toward the customer’s next infrastructure
purchase.

That’s the circular economy in action, happening in real time.

Of course, most of this equipment has spent years quietly doing its job in a rack somewhere, rarely seeing daylight. When it comes out of a data centre it often shows it — which is why a fair bit of it gets a cosmetic refresh before heading back out into the world.

After all, even if the kit is destined to disappear into another rack for the next few years, our customers still expect it to look the part.

And they’re right to.

We believe refurbished equipment should always look and perform like new.
