Justice Matters -- Plea Bargains
The right to a trial is guaranteed in the constitution, but despite that fundamental right, 95 percent of criminal cases never see a jury. Instead, they resolve by plea bargain. There is no witness testimony and no public examination of the evidence. Prosecutors and defense attorneys quietly churn out deals behind closed doors. It relieves the pressure on an overburdened system. But is it justice?
