Chemistry Section 18-7: Nitrogen - An Element of Paradox

This video overview is based on Section 18.7 of an Open Source textbook called Chemistry: Atoms First 2e, by OpenStax.

This video uses a tool called Google NotebookLM to turn long and boring PDFs or textbook sections into a more engaging video overview.

NotebookLM can make mistakes and it is not a substitute for actually reading the textbook, which is available online for free on the OpenStax website.

Sometimes there are audio or visual glitches, the software was still relatively new when this video was created and we hope the software will improve over time.

If you notice any particularly egregious issues, please let us know in the comments and we’ll make it a priority to remake the video. At the moment we’re focused on creating new content but will go back and fix older videos later on, hopefully with a newer version of the software.

When you hear AI, you probably think of Large Language Models (LLM). NotebookLM is different, it uses something called Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). It’s like it becomes an expert in exactly what the user gives it.

While the end-result was created by AI, a human expert was involved in configuring the settings, writing the prompt, and selecting the resources to give the software.
