Replacing Old Electrolytic Capacitors In Electronic Equipment. Vintage Stereo Repair And Restoration

This video talks about the replacement of electrolytic capacitors in vintage audio equipment and when they should be replaced according to the manufacturers of electrolytic capacitors. Electrolytic capacitor failure is the number one cause of vintage audio equipment failure. The evidence is clear. Electrolytic capacitors that are more then 20 years old begin to fail. This is not my opinion but is a fact. In this video I will show you the links to data sheets that have been produced by manufacturers like Nichicon, Elna, Panasonic and others. They are the companies that design, validate, test and manufacture electrolytic capacitors. They state as fact that an electrolytic capacitor has a limited lifespan. They are the experts but people on the internet will still argue that the manufacturers don't know what they are talking about. I think that is just plain crazy but watch the video, do your own research and make up your own mind. Enjoy!

I am a hobbyist that repairs and collects vintage stereo gear. Every piece of equipment that you see in my video's is mine. I don't repair other people's equipment and then send them back to their owners. I repair, restore, and bench test every unit. I then install each unit into my own stereo system and do what they were meant to do. Play Music!
