You might be exempt from keeping a logbook in Canada...watch the video!

In Canada, if you are operating within a 160km radius of your home terminal, starting and finishing at the same location every day, and NOT working for more than one employer, than you are exempt from keeping a logbook.

Know however, that your employer must keep records of your work hours; and those records are going to passed onto you--the professional driver--to maintain. This paperwork is commonly referred to a s a trip sheet.

The trip sheet must contain the driver's name, the date, and the location from which he or she is working. As well, the trip sheet must indicate which work cycle the driver is operating on and the daily and total time in each duty status line. Most drivers operating locally, will be driving a day cab, so will have to keep track of:
• off duty
• driving
• and on duty, not driving time.

For Canadian drivers, operate on Cycle #1 (70 hrs in 7 days); there is little benefit for working in Cycle #2.
