Sin Miedo a Nada (Alex Ubago cover) Ezequiel, Lourdes & Laia

So, here is yet another video! I am so proud of this one, because it was a challenge in several ways. First of all, from the moment I heard Lourdes sing, I fell in love with her voice, and we've already recorded two songs on her request, but I wanted to include her in a project of my own. Also, some time ago I had this idea that Ezequiel sometimes sounded a lot like Alex Ubago, which is a Spanish singer-songwriter who has some beautiful pop ballads, and I thought it would be a great idea for him to sing one of his songs. Ever since I started recording with Ezequiel, I've always had in mind several ideas for vocal duets, but till now, they didn't came true. So, the choice was obvious, "Sin Miedo a Nada" is one of the most iconic and beautiful songs by Alex Ubago, and he did record it in a duet with Amaia M;ontero, the first singer of the band La Oreja de Van Gogh. After much thought, I decided Lourdes would be the perrfecty partner for Ezequiel in this song, and she was eager to do it. Laia jumped on board with enthusiasm as the pianist. I am so lucky to be able to bring together such talented musicians and good friends.

I had new equipment, an 8 input Focusrite Scarlett interface and two Rode NT5A microphones, and that opened new possibilities, so I decided to try record this project with all musicians performing simultaneously. And it was one of the most challenging parts, to find the day when 4 students with completely different schedules could arrange the recording session. Also, if possible I wanted to record Laia's part on a real piano instead of my keyboard, and I asked permission in my music school to use one of their pianos, and they were extremely kind to let me record in the auditorium with the grand piano.

After many months trying to find a suitable date, we finally found a date where all of our schedules allowed us to record the song, however we couldn't find another day for rehearsal. Also, due to the availability of the piano in the school, we had very limited time for the recording session. It was a lot of pressure and I am sure if we had more time to prepare and record, we could have polished it more, but it did turn out great and I am so proud with the result.

Also, I have to mention Cati, who once again relieved me from the camera work, allowing me to focus on the audio recording.
