Dang Kim Son – Same people, new data
Watch the Vietnamese-language version: https://youtu.be/U9BP4iZXSNk
Dang Kim Song discusses the value of household panel data, which follows the same people over time, to track changes in families as well as plots of land. The Vietnam Access to Resources Household Survey (VARHS) has been administered every two years since 2006 to about 2,600 rural households in 12 of the country’s provinces.
Dang Kim Song is the former Director General of the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD), one of UNU-WIDER’s partners in the Structural transformation and inclusive growth in Viet Nam project.
HOW TO BUILD A DATA REVOLUTION
This video series tells the story of Viet Nam’s data revolution. To build on its success in poverty reductions, the country needed better data to continue pressing forward through its ongoing economic transition. Researchers and policy makers are working together to get the information required to continue designing effective policies.
