Putting a new Engine in my Dads 66 Chevelle SS

My Dad, Mike has had his 66 Chevelle SS since he was 14. I’ve heard stories about this car my whole life. It’s always had a big block motor in it and my dad’s nickname was Sleeper because the car was so fast. Unfortunately right around the time I was born he sold the engine and the last time it was registered was 1985. The car spent the next 36 years sitting in my grandpa’s barn collecting dust. He’s always talked about getting it going someday, but I knew he would never find the time because he is always too busy helping other people, myself included.

It’s been my dream to buy him a new engine someday. Luckily one of his best friends from high school who built his race engines back in the 80s was still building engines today at his business, Carl McQuillen Engines Inc. I called him up and got the build going, then Jesse Coots and Jerry Harding along with help from some other friends stepped up to get the engine into the car. My dad came out to visit us in California for two weeks and the guys at Old Soul Hot Rod Shop made magic happen by bringing the car to life with it’s new engine. I can’t thank everyone who was involved in pulling this off enough, this was the coolest gift I will ever be able to give and I couldn’t have done it without everyone who chipped in their time and skills to make it happen.
