Yemen’s Houthis Report 6 Killed by US Strikes, Trump Video Suggests Higher Toll

U.S. airstrikes over the weekend hit both Sanaa, Yemen’s capital, and Saada, a known stronghold of the Iran-aligned Houthi faction. Houthi-controlled media aired images of collapsed buildings and wounded civilians, alleging a “dozens”-strong casualty count in Sanaa’s Shu’ub district. Another suspected strike on a building in Saada left two dead and nine injured, according to Houthi sources. Separately, a controversial drone video shared by President Donald Trump features over 70 individuals gathering before being struck by a high-explosive bomb—Trump labeled them as Houthis planning maritime attacks in support of Hamas’s war on Israel. The Houthis have not confirmed the leadership losses implied by the footage, but they acknowledge that “dozens” were killed or wounded in an attack on what they describe as a “social Eid gathering” in Hodeida.

U.S. Central Command has not disclosed specifics on the operation, although White House officials say it follows repeated Houthi threats to assault ships in the Red Sea and missile launches on Israel. Intelligence Minister Moammar al-Eryani of Yemen’s exiled anti-Houthi government contended that Iranian military “advisers” may have been present at the time of the strike—an assertion Iran denies. Yemeni analyst Mohammed al-Basha notes a more “aggressive” pattern in U.S. targeting, including high-value individuals and ballistic capabilities. With each side exchanging conflicting casualty reports, this latest escalation could portend broader, more sustained U.S. involvement in Yemen’s layered conflict. #shorts
