African hairstyling and culture in Star Wars #shorts
I never paid much attention to Star Wars until recently so you can imagine my surprise at discovering the references to different African cultures. Outside of filming in Tunisia and the use of isiZulu in the original trilogy, the prequel films see Padme adopting a headpiece based off of the traditional styling of Congo's Mangbetu people - which isn't too dissimilar from the headwear worn by Zulu women in South Africa.
