In this lesson, Yuri Alogna shows how to fix IFC columns that come out of Revit and are no longer editable in Bonsai BIM.

When you open a Revit IFC export in Bonsai, columns often arrive as a plain extrusion you cannot properly edit. Yuri walks through the correct way to rebuild a column from a real profile and type, so it becomes fully editable again, and how to apply that fix to every column at once without redoing the work.

Cleaning up duplicate profiles, styles and materials with IFC Patch.
Why a Revit IFC column is not editable and what is actually wrong.
The approach to avoid, a custom extrusion, and why.
The correct approach, building from a real profile and column type.
Making the column editable again with Alt E.
Applying the same type to all columns with Select Similar.
Assigning clean names, styles and materials.
