LIVE: Citizen Science and Zooniverse Global Astronomy Month 2026

In celebration of Global Astronomy Month our guest speaker is Dr. Laura Trouille, Vice President of Science Engagement and Visualization at the Adler Planetarium, a Research Associate at Northwestern University, and Co-PI for Zooniverse, the world’s largest platform for people-powered research. She works at the intersection of astronomy, public engagement, and citizen science, helping connect millions of people worldwide to real scientific discovery.

In this inspiring talk, Dr. Trouille highlights how volunteers around the globe are contributing to astronomy research through Zooniverse: from classifying galaxies to helping uncover new insights about our universe.

Inspired by the 100 hours of Astronomy, Global Astronomy Month is an annual offshoot that began upon the inception of Astronomers Without Borders in 2009, and remains one of its flagship programs.

A mix of various edutaining programs ranging from AstroArts to Cultural Astronomy to Observational Programs, this annual festival celebrating astronomy runs the whole month of April and features international partners that create a larger community of astronomy enthusiasts that span the globe.
