Regent Opening Night Compile
The 103 year old Regent Cinema re-opened after a ten year hiatus on the 23rd April 2022 screening the first few minutes of the first film screened in 1919, 'A Modern Musketeer'. This was followed by one of the National Film Unit crew, Brian Shennan who was a sound recordist, describing his involvement in the New Zealand film industry. The iconic 1970 film 'This is New Zealand', that was produced to showcase New Zealand at Expo 70 at Osaka in Japan was then shown. This was followed by the documentary 'That was New Zealand', detailing the reasons why and the people who made this film, to the near capacity audience.
