The Boxer Who Fought 228 Times
He fought 12 times in ONE month… and boxing had to stop him.
In an era of carefully managed careers and perfect records, Buck “Tombstone” Smith did the opposite.
No training camps. No long breaks. No opponent selection.
If there was a fight available he took it.
From fighting twice in one day… to traveling city-to-city in a beat-up car… to stacking over 228 fights and 180 wins, Smith lived like a throwback to boxing’s forgotten era when fighters stayed active, stayed ready, and learned on the job.
But his career raises a bigger question:
What happens when a fighter isn’t built for competition… but shaped by it?
And why did the sport itself step in to make sure no one could ever do this again?
This is the story of the last true “Golden Age” fighter.
