6 Months With The Tudor Black Bay 58 925: Review Loves/Hates & Tarnish Update: Trouble In Paradise?

The Tudor BB58 925 was released about six months ago and it immediately polarized the watch world. It has continued to be a talking point even after the latest release of the full bronze Black Bay 58 and the ceramic Black Bay. However, the circumstances were not ideal because the continued discussion was because of the tarnish that has formed on multiple 925s around the world.

Today we finally take a look at what my BB58 925 looks like after six months of use and how the tarnish has progressed since the last update three months ago. The changes are not extreme however they are impactful in that they have made me think about my future with the 925 despite my original excitement about the tarnish. We will go over my reservations when I take a look at what I’ve loved about the watch while owning it and also what I didn't love as much now that I’ve spent time with it. However, no matter what happens it will remain one of the most unique watches on the market with no equivalents from the likes of Rolex, Omega, or Seiko on the more affordable end of the spectrum.

If you’d like to learn more about the Black Bay 925 take a look at my Tudor Tarnish Tales playlist! I take a look at the 925 for what it is beyond the controversy that has surrounded the tarnish. What is it like to live with on a daily basis? How comfortable is it compared to a steel Balck bay 58? How does it wear on different straps? Would I buy the watch if I had a chance to redo everything?

Background for the video: The advantages of silver include a warm and bright white color (especially with the fully brushed case), and additional heft to make the watch feel more special. However, silver’s main disadvantage is the fact that it oxidizes and tarnishes. Tarnishing is still one of the biggest concerns about the 925 and for good reason. Tudor said that it created a brand new alloy to fend off tarnishing, but the results are something only time could provide. However, one month after buying the 925, I got some answers because my 925 did start to tarnish and more reports of tarnishing came up as well. Now we wait and see how the tarnishing will progress.
