The impact of fatherlessness is a broken society...

One of the toughest demands to family men today is the inexistent equilibrium between creating time for the family and being out there conquering the world so as to leave an inheritance for their children's children.

In actual sense, there is nothing like balancing between family and work or business!

When you talk of balance, it means that you give both equal time which is hard.

Just like the principle of time value of money which states that a coin in your hand today is better than one tomorrow. This implies that money can lose value today and the coin that you have today should be invested wisely so that it doesn't lose value tomorrow.

In the same manner, what matters is the value that you offer to your family with the focus on quality time and not quantity time.

Quality valuable time for your family means giving intentional attention to your spouse and children. For your children, you have to be ready to answer their tiring questions, to play with them, to guide them in all ways and encourage them. This doesn't have to be the whole day but realistic time with commitment and intentionality.

Young men in our society need mentors and role models; which should start from home. No matter how hard their mothers try, there comes a time when young men need guidance from a father figure.

It is a reality that the manly ego starts at an early stage and even if the mother tries to contain it by being brutal or authoritative, it can lead to serious rebellion from their sons.

Even if you are a single mother, connect your son to a mature man who can be intentional in being a role model or a mentor especially as they get to teenage life–I know this an uphill task to get someone to do it–that's where places like churches or sober communities of men come in and as mother you can encourage your son to join.

Even if it means paying someone to be a coach to your son, you will save yourself from the stress of rebellion or paying heavily for rehabilitation.

If you visit rehabilitation centres, police stations and prisons, you will find more men than women in such places; why is this the case? Out of research, fatherlessness contributes to a very large extent–Check out this video where I quote some of those research findings.

To the married women: If God has blessed you with a sober man who is trying his best to be available, not abusive in any way, thank God because our society is lacking these types of men. If you have one like that, make your home a homely place so that he can always create time intentionally and be a mentor and role model to the future generations–both sons and daughters. Some men will run away from a chaotic home to look for peace elsewhere (a discussion for another day).
