Stavropoleos Church (Biserica Stravrapoleos) located in Bucharest's old town area is a true architectural gem .Built in the early 1800s it sustained major damage in the earthquake of 1802 and was almost declared a complete loss due to multiple structural deficits and a lcontinoued lack of funds needed for its repairs.

It was finally restored in August of 1904 and was slated to act as a museum.Restorations efforts were continued on and off well into the Second World War but the church never resturned o its glory and was dismantled by the communist regime.After the revolution of 1989 work was resumed and the remodeling was finally completed.Nowadays the church and monestary are finally fully restored and functioning as intended.
