Cover - QUE SERA SERA (1956)

Whether intentional or not, this charming tune contains a controversial philosophical stance which coincides with what I believe is absolutely true. How often can one say this about a song?

The song says "Whatever will be, will be." The future is inevitable. Closed, not open. Sounds like fatalism, but could also be determinism, and the two are not identical but subtly very different.

The other key clause is "The future's not ours to see" - the future is not perfectly predictable. This is another key implication of determinism.

In summary, although the future is inevitable, it isn't perfectly predictable - which is great, because this means that life remains as fascinating as ever!
