Dead Sea Scrolls, Gospel of Peter & Lost Hebrew Books Reveal True Jesus Context
The Dead Sea Scrolls Pesharim — especially the Melchizedek text — contain a prophetic template that perfectly matches Jesus’ two advents: first as the Herald of Jubilee and the Kingdom (as He declared in Nazareth reading Isaiah 61), and later as the mighty End-Time Judge.
This was no small sectarian group. The massive Qumran library was like an ancient university, reflecting a major Essene movement with shared theology and apocalypticism.
Up to the 3rd–4th century, there was no fixed Bible canon. Separate scrolls circulated with varying authority. To understand the late Second Temple period, we must study the thousands of extra-biblical messianic and apocalyptic texts: Dead Sea Scrolls, Pseudepigrapha, Apocrypha, and New Testament Apocrypha — including 1 Enoch, Book of Jubilees, and Testaments of the 12 Patriarchs, widely read by Jews at the time.
Many Eastern churches accepted the Gospel of Peter as legitimate apostolic scripture because of its Judeaic roots — keeping Shabbat and circumcision. Later, the Roman Catholic high church outlawed and removed it. The church and synagogue tried to eliminate these original Judeo-Christian and Nazarene books, but they survived and reappeared in Slavic, Russian, Greek, Armenian, and Latin translations. Linguistic scholars confirm most were originally written in Hebrew or Aramaic, likely from the Syria/Damascus region.
Explore these connections further in The Wars of Light and Darkness by Reuven Efraim Schmalz.
🔥 How do these suppressed texts reshape our understanding of early Messianic faith?
