Pike Retro Look? | Strange New Worlds | Star Trek Theory

A new Star Trek series was announced focusing on Captain Pike, Spock and the Enterprise crew in the 2250s of the Star Trek timeline.

Taking place before the Original Series, can this new series tie in somehow visually and thematically to the Original Series Retro look and feel? Could there be some in universe explanation to show how the technology reduced into Kirk's era? Could it be linked to Control from Discovery, and did the Zhat Vash (who existed in this time in the shadows) have something to do with it by trying to eradicate all last traces of Control throughout the galaxy?
