ShopNBC 2010_12_30 Larry Magen with Tim Temple and Jim Skelton 7PM - Watch Collector's Series!
Stuhrling Original watches on ShopNBC with Tim Temple AND Jim Skelton and Larry Magen on December 30th, 2010 at 7:00 PM (Eastern).
This was a memorable show for me. It was a five hour show with various brands being shown for the Watch Collector's series. Tim hosted the first three hours with Jim hosting the last two hours. In this video you will only see the presentations of the Stuhrling Originals during this show.
What is memorable for me about this show was that I broke my arm about 18 hours before this show began. It was about 1:00 in the morning when I returned to my hotel after having dinner with Mike Davis and few others. I had arrived in town only earlier that day so I was up all night as was my usual practice when I would take a 6:00 AM flight out of NY. It was about 10 degrees BELOW zero when I got out of my car to walk into the hotel and get some much needed rest. I slipped on the ice in the parking lot... down I went and broke my right arm. I was rolling around on the ground freezing at 1:00 in the morning... and there was no one around. I knew I was hurt when I tried to get up. My arm was seriously broke. I crawled off the ice to where there was more solid footing, rolled to my left side and worked my way up to my feet. I got to the front door of the hotel and it was locked because it was so late. There was no way I could located my key with my right arm broken, so I was ringing the bell like crazy and screaming profanities out there in the lot. The night auditor, who I knew very well happened to be away from the front desk. She was up on the second floor dealing with a customer issue. Finally after about 10 minutes she came out and let me in. She tried to help me but my arm could not move or do anything. I knew I had to go to the hospital... so I called Mike Davis who I had just left about 30 minutes before. He was just about to go to sleep himself. I asked him to come and get me and take me to the hospital. He did. He got me there shortly after two in the morning. I told him he could split and I will get a taxi in the morning. Mike said he didn't mind waiting for me and he waited in the waiting room all night. They did what they had to do and put my arm in a hard cast.
Mike took me back to the hotel sometime after 6:00 in the morning. I spent the morning trying to find a local doctor who would take the cast off so I could do the show that night. I found a doctor who could take me without notice and he cut the cast off, and put me in a soft cast. My arm was killing me. The doctor gave me Vicodin for the pain.
I had not slept in two straight nights... and I had a show to do in just a few hours. Somehow I got myself dressed and ready, and I very slowly got my jacket on, and showed up for the five hour show. Jim and Tim were aware of my arm. I just propped my arm up on the desk and didn't move it. This was very unusual for me because I talk with my hands a lot. You will see my right arm just sitting there on the desk. So I did this show not having slept in three days.... loaded on Vicodin... and with a broken arm! After my spot with Tim, he said on the air... "great job." He never said that before. He even thanked me for coming in on the air. Jim was overtly nice too. I had a full rotation that entire weekend... which I completed... but it was this show that was the most challenging. You gotta' play hurt!
Thank you Michael Davis!
