WATCH LIVE: Virgin Galactic Launch Billionaire Richard Branson into Space

Virgin Galactic is set to launch their first fully crewed spaceflight of its SpaceShipTwo Unity. Takeoff is currently scheduled on Sunday, July 11 at 08:30 a.m. MDT (14:30 UTC) from Spaceport America, New Mexico.

Virgin Galactic aims to start flying tourists on the space plane next year. Already, more than 700 people have signed up, including Tom Hanks, Justin Bieber, and Lady Gaga.

Unity 22 mission will be the 22nd flight test for VSS Unity and fourth crewed spaceflight.

For the first time VSS Unity will carry a full crew of two pilots and four mission specialists in the cabin, including the Company’s founder, Sir Richard Branson, who will be testing the private astronaut experience.

Branson's fellow passengers will include Beth Moses, Virgin Galactic's chief astronaut instructor; Colin Bennett, Virgin Galactic lead operations engineer; and Sirisha Bandla, the vice president of government affairs and research operations at the company.

VSS Unity will be piloted by Dave Mackay and Michael Masucci, with C.J. Sturckow and Kelly Latimer piloting VMS Eve.
