Remembering Lisa Loring (Open To Recovery overview) part 2 of 3

We continue our tribute to the life and career of actress Lisa Loring, who passed away on January 23rd of a heart attach (brought on by high blood pressure) in Burbank, California. Ms. Loring had a life and career filled with highs and lows, and her life, and how she worked hard to improve her life and battle the demons that often come along in life, can hopefully be a touchstone and life-lesson for us all as we remember her today. Tributes and memories have been coming in across the industry as we remember Lisa, with Decades TV running an Addams Family marathon this past weekend in loving tribute to her.

Lisa Loring (Lisa Ann DeCinces), became a television child star on the 1960s hit television series The Adams Family in the mid 1960s. Born in 1958 in the Marshall Islands, Lisa had a television career that spanned the decades, on-off at times, but she was a trooper, hard worker and a survivor. A caring. loving mother and grand mother, she rose to fame in 1964 with the role of Wednesday Addams on the hit television series The Addams Family. The cast was a remarkable mix of Hollywood actors of various ages: Carolyn Jones, John Astin, Jackie Coogan, Ted Cassidy, Blossom Rock and Ken Weatherwax.

Upon the ending of the Addams series in 1966, young Lisa went on to guest starring roles on television series The Pruitts of South Hampton and The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. After stepping away from acting for a time to allow Lisa to have a more normal childhood, she returned to acting at nineteen years old and made more guest appearances on television series Barnaby Jones and Fantasy Island.

She made a full comeback onto weekly television in the 1980s, playing Cricket Montgomery on the soap opera As the World Turns. She also starred in The Addams Family TV-reunion movie in 1977.

Her work on the show inspired another two generations of actresses who would go on to play the role of Wednesday in The Addams family franchise - Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in the feature films of The Addams Family in the 1990s, and most recently, Jenny Ortega, playing Wednesday in the new NetFlix series titled - Wednesday. Ms. Ortega recently credited Lisa for inspiring 'the dance' that has become a staple of Wednesday's character.

This video clip is from the early 1990s, on the Geraldo talk show featuring child stars of television and the challenges they faced on and off the screen as they entered adulthood. Of particular importance in this part 2 of 3 video tribute, is the care rehab center that Lisa worked with in the early 1990s called 'Open To Recovery', located in Southern California.

We did some research this weekend to determine if that facility is still in operation for anyone who might need (or know of someone in need) of substance abuse care. The issue is as much a critical need to today as it was thirty years ago when this episode of Geraldo was filmed. There are some substance care facilities located in the Southern California area where Open To Recovery was located:: Asana Recovery, Pacific Sands Recovery, Clear Life Recovery and Addiction Treatment. We hope this video today can act as a PSA-like aid in helping those with care treatment needs to seek out help... help is out there, and can often make all the difference in life.

We will present part three of this tribute to Lisa later today.

This video clip is presented here on YouTube for the entertainment and informational value of the viewer, and no copyright infringement is intended.

Rest in peace dear Lisa - know that you are loved and remembered.

We pass along our heart felt condolences to Lisa's family and friends. She is survived by two daughter and two grand children.
