《Sound of Music》（仙樂飄飄處處聞／台譯：真善美）中，《Do Re Mi》一曲可以說是家傳戶曉的經典之作，而《Edelweiss》、《My Favorite Things》、《Sixteen going on Seventeen》等都是人人耳熟能詳的歌曲。讓人感動的故事加上優美的音樂，可以說是《Sound of Music》之所以能成為史上最成功的音樂劇之一的關鍵，即使經過了 50 多年重看還是能夠引人入勝。

《Sound of Music》其實以真人真事改編而成，電影的故事主要講述在 30 年代的奧地利，一位名為 Maria 的修女因為被修道院認為不適合那兒的生活，因此被院長委派到一位上校的家中擔任他 7 個小孩的家庭教師。因為 Maria 熱愛音樂，而且以真心對待孩子和上校一家，讓原本冷漠的家庭重拾了生氣，而 Maria 和上校亦產生了感情，最終結成夫婦，Maria 則成為了 7 個孩子的後母。然而，當時奧地利正值比德國強硬要求合併，忠心愛國的上校為了拒絕加入納粹德軍，便帶同 Maria 和 7 位孩子離開奧地利這個家鄉。
