Shunshui repeatedly tells Ke Ai that her past does not affect his love for her. However, Ke Ai feels unworthy of Shunshui's love and believes she is not good enough for him. She convinces him that she has become a materialistic woman, and he starts considering disowning his family for money, so that he can give her the riches he believes she desires.
