Some words about "Taken for Granted":

I wrote this song about a year ago, whilst/after going through a tough time. Through the mix of all the feelings I felt, I also felt being 'taken for granted'. I wanted to take the emotional pain out of me, in a good way, and one night when I sat down to play the guitar, I started playing the chorus of this song, as if I naturally knew how to play it. I developed it into a more structured piece, and left it there - without playing it anymore for the upcoming months.

At the beginning of this year, I had some retrospective thoughts, I remembered about this song, 'polished' it a bit, and after a mental-war about "what is considered a good/finished song?", I decided that this will be its final version.

I consider the last part an Epilogue, for I've written it a year later - observing the world with a more clear mind, something that I tried to insert into this piece, transforming my visual world into an audible matter.

We, people, go through ups and downs in our life, but it's up to us on how we react to anything. Thinking that "it wasn't that big of deal", I've told my story to somebody, who I later found out that she went through a similar experience, and her words were: "I wish I were as strong as you at that time. I look up to you because of the fact that you were able to bring something good out of this." She later shared with me that she thought about suicide at that time.

If there's only one thing I can leave you with, after listening to this song, it is that no matter how much people will hurt you, try not to respond with negativity - bad moods pass, but cruel words wound the soul of others. Whatever bad happens to you, try not to use it as an excuse for not living your life happily; instead, use it as a foundation for developing your character, become a stronger human being - be a person who inspires other people to become better.
