Gears of War : It gets tolerable

Kait asks Marcus if the nightmares ever get better, Marcus ruminates before answering the question. He then gets lost in his memories of the Locust war.
The scenery, the destruction and blood shed. Fighting alongside his brothers.

During lockdown my friend and I decided to work on this project, a trailer/summary of our greatest childhood game, so we can look back and feel the experience we had when we first played this game. We enjoyed the remastered "Mad World" trailer... yet felt as though it was no competition compared to the original. Gears of War needed a "Mad World" but it needed to be different. The greatness of the original would make any reuse of the Gary Jules version obsolete in comparison, so we made it completely different, having a something that can stand on it's own and not attempt to be like any previous trailer.

A lot of work went into this trailer : planning, recording, video editing, logo editing & animations. Playing through the game countless times to recapture particular shots and making sure Marcus did not have a weapon on his back (inspired by the original Mad World trailer) and on top of this - learning to use unfamiliar editing software along the way. - a major upgrade to the standard PS4's 720p sharefactory.

This is our 6th and final draft, after 4 months we feel as though this truly captured our outlook of the game when we first experienced Gears of War as kids. Epic & Horrifying, yet given the strength of brotherhood to fight throughout it all.

We really wanted to send this video directly to The Coalition Studio so the crew could enjoy the footage, unfortunately that doesn't seem like a simple process... so we have decided to upload to YouTube! In the hopes that one of the team stumbles upon this video and simply see how much we love it. They have done such a fantastic job with the game. Thank you.

ALL CLIPS but ONE (Dom looking at picture of his family) are from our own personal gameplay and has been captured through Xbox One S Capture system (through the Record the last 2 minutes menu) then uploaded to Xbox Live to then save through the official xbox app on a mobile device, to then transfer to computer. We definitely maybe cannot afford a capture card at this moment...
