We demonstrate the MATLAB/Simulink implementation of a Fuel Cell and Battery Powered BLDC Motor system — a hybrid energy model suitable for Electric Vehicle (EV) applications.

🚗 Overview:
The developed simulation integrates a proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell, a boost converter, a 48 V battery, and a BLDC motor drive. The P&O MPPT (Perturb and Observe Maximum Power Point Tracking) algorithm is implemented to extract maximum power from the fuel cell, ensuring efficient hybrid energy utilization.

⚙️ Simulation Components Explained:

Fuel Cell Model: 24 V, 52 A (1.26 kW nominal), 100 A max, 2 kW peak power.

Boost Converter: Designed for input 20–24 V and DC-bus 48 V.

Battery: 48 V, 200 Ah capacity, 50 % initial SoC.

BLDC Motor: Voltage Source Inverter controlled, rated speed ≈ 3000 rpm, torque 0–2.5 Nm.

Control: Conventional P&O MPPT for fuel cell power optimization.

📊 Simulation Insights:

Tracks fuel-cell maximum power of ≈ 2 kW at 2 s.

Dynamic pressure change (1 atm → 2.5 atm) demonstrated for hydrogen and oxygen flow.

Smooth battery charging profile and stable BLDC speed response.

Torque response from 0 to 2.5 Nm maintains rated speed with minimal ripple.
